..and temperatures in Cercedilla have suddenly dropped to freezing! Almost three degrees below zero last night..and a forecast of snow for tomorrow. In reality, this kind of weather is completely normal in the Sierra at this time of year, Winter often continuing into April, but this year any reference to “normal” just sounds like a bad joke. Just the other day, seeing how mild the temperatures were and what with Spring round the corner, I decided to get my geraniums out on the balcony..despite knowing that in a normal year this would not be advisable any time before mid-April. Oh well, just have to get them back inside again I guess..
March 23 update: The forecast got it right! On Wednesday morning we woke up to around 15cm of snow in Cercedilla.. more than we’ve seen at any time during the “Winter” which wound up the other day. Weird weather, anyone?
But we’re not alone in our plight. Though central Europe has had a lot of snow this Winter, in North America it hasn’t been so good. See this report from the powder snow paradise of the Wasatch Mountains in Utah.
