Snow in Guadarrama (..from infierno to invierno!)

We have snow in Guadarrama in January like we haven’t had it for some years now. And while it might not be Utah style cold smoke or British Columbia “bottomless pow” it’s still pretty good ..Guadapow! (Whadda pow?)

The incredible disapearing ski-pole!

The incredible disappearing ski-pole!

The photo, taken yesterday above Cotos at about 2000m, does not quite reflect reality in that the average snow depth at that altitude is more like half a meter..though you can find 60-70cm and, yes, in drifts even a meter.

In an earlier post i conjectured that we were heading for another non-Winter unless a big storm in mid/late January “pulled our asses out of the infierno” ..and i wasn’t far wrong!

About coldspringdays

Éireannach is ea mé, i mo chonaí insan Spáinn. Rugadh mé i lár na tuaithe, ar feadh blianta bhí mé ag teitheadh uaithi, i bhfad as an tuath, ach sa deireadh d'fhill mé, ar ais go dtí an tuath.. An Irishman am I, settled in Spain. Born was I in the middle of the country, for years I ran from it, far from the country, but in the end I returned, back to the country..
