So where’s Winter?

Mais où sont les neiges d’antan?

End of December and there is practically no snow in the Sierra. None at all if you’re looking from the South. And very little on North-facing aspects, above 2200m.

We all love to see snow in Winter.. but we love driving around in our cars too, and wearing t-shirts at home even in Winter with the heating turned up, and flying to foreign destinations at different times of the year.. and the planet is getting warmer.. and once more there is no snow in Guadarrama a month into Winter, nor is there any abundance of the white stuff in the Pyrenees. In the Alps the Winter seems to have arrived after a slow start. In the USA most mountain areas are complaining of lack of snow and ‘drought’ conditions this December. Let’s hope things improve in the New Year.

About coldspringdays

Éireannach is ea mé, i mo chonaí insan Spáinn. Rugadh mé i lár na tuaithe, ar feadh blianta bhí mé ag teitheadh uaithi, i bhfad as an tuath, ach sa deireadh d'fhill mé, ar ais go dtí an tuath.. An Irishman am I, settled in Spain. Born was I in the middle of the country, for years I ran from it, far from the country, but in the end I returned, back to the country..
