Winter’s back..for a few hours at least

The storm that blew in from the Atlantic over Christmas didn’t make for much of a Santa Claus in Guadarrama. It brought a lot of miserable rain and a little snow on its tail end..just about barely enough for a “white Christmas”..for the first time in years, it should be said. Well, gotta make the most of it i guess!

So, judging from the 2cm of snow in Cercedilla that there would be as much as 10cm in Los Puertos, we went to Cotos on the train this morning. And we were not disappointed – truth be told, our hopes were not high – there was a whole 10cm of fresh snow at 1830m..even 12cm in some places. Wow! But don’t let’s get carried away with all this abundance..the rain will be back tonight and all day tomorrow, and all this new snow will have a tough time surviving. We can only hope that in the following days there will be more snow..another whole 10cm perhaps?

An Irishman am I, settled in Spain. Born was I in the middle of the country, for years I ran from it, far from the country, but in the end I returned, back to the country..
